Is finally here. The long awaited (in my house at least) poster for the EP release party. Jesse & Adam have been working hard on this one. Oh and lets not forget that I helped with the mustache o' words. :)

The time has come...

To show your support for Denver's local music scene. There is the link to vote. I know you won't know all the acts, but I think you can skip categories or even look up the names online to decide who is worthy of your vote. The important 2 to remember are Ideal Fathers for best band under Post Punk & DJ Soup for the best DJ under the non-traditional DJ category. Please help the guys out this could mean alot to them & they would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance everyone! :)

Your Vote Counts...

Ideal Fathers have been nominated for an award from Westword.com the local publication that loves them so. Here's the latest little ditty about how to vote for the guys. Online voting hasn't started yet, but when it does even you out of towners can put a good word in for the fathers. Remember every vote counts & having the honor of being called Westwords best means a lot around Denver. When Westword recommends a band, a restaurant, or in the case of our friend Matt a DJ people really listen. Matt won Westwords best up & coming DJ last year and was subsequently able to quit his day job & pick up enoug high paying gigs to make a living doing what he loves. Like I said every vote counts, even yours.

Thanks for voting!

Love,

Erin, Jesse, & the rest of the Fathers

Sketch...

Jesse has been working feverishly the last few days trying to finish up poster desigs for the big show in May. The other night he had me help him perfect his sketch and this is what we came up with. Well Jesse did the whole thing all I did was help him make the writing in the mustache. In case you are wondering what it says... Larimer Lounge. Which is the dive bar/venue where the guys show will be. It's also coincidentally the location of Jesse & I's first meeting and our first date. *Cue everyone saying Awww How sweet. I'm pretty impressed & I can't wait to see the finished product.

Mr. Fix it...

For those of you who don't know we have a less than handy landlord who when asked to fix something tries to do it her self and 9 times out of 10 ends up making the problem worse. Prime example our kitchen faucet. For some reason it started dripping some months back and the drip got progressively worse. We called, she came over and banged around in our kitchen for a while, and then left stating it was fixed. It was fixed for about 10 seconds and from there it progressively got worse. It ended up getting so bad that we had to manually turn our hot water off to save our sanity and to stop wasting water. We only turn the hot water on to wash dishes and then promptly turn it back off. We've called my dad and asked his opinion, but honestly it's hard for him to understand the problem since he's not here. We've been dealing with the issue for some time and debating if we should call & tell our landlord that the problem she said she fixed is actually worse or if we just keep on dealing with it. Not having hot water in your kitchen sink is a major annoyance, but then again so are having a leaky faucet and having a landlord who tries to save money by fixing (aka making things worse) herself. The other night I was doing dishes and the sink was driving me bonkers. Jesse decided to to some investigating and we took the sink apart. I must admit I was a bit nervous since neither one of us are plumbers and he's not really the handyman type. I thought we would surely loose a piece or forget how to put it all back together and we'd be sinkless for who knows how long. Well Jesse proved me wrong. He did some research online and called the ACE near our house. We walked over there, bought some parts, and before you knew it with a little help from me (mainly reading online sink fixing directions) he had fixed our sink. I have never seen him so Proud or Excited. It was all he could talk about the rest of night. He ended up going out with the guys later that night and I can't help but laugh as I picture him slightly buzzed going on and on about how amazing our faucet is and how he fixed it. He feels very accomplished as he should. I'm so glad our sink is fixed and I'm very proud of my Mr. Fix it.

IF pictures...

Jesse obviously head banging. He's been complaining about a sore neck ever since.
Picture from a show long ago.

Okay so I asked Jesse if there were pictures from the other night and he said yes on our myspace. I could tell by his tone that he didn't care much for them. I said What you don't like them? He never seems to like any pictures of himself anymore. I know he's annoyed that I posted the picture of us at Bump & Grind. He said I guess they're ok, but they're really blurry. He was definitely right about that. I would have posted more, but there were only 4 & the other were worse than this one. The last picture is an old one of Jesse doing his Mad clapping @ a show. Apparently someone in the band decided to get creative with it, so I decided to share it with you.

*On a side note Vinnie the long lost original member (he's the one who actually started the band) of Ideal Fathers has returned from his studies in South America. He was able to make it to the show on Saturday and surprise the band. The guys were super excited to see him and finally get to catch up. Vinnie seemed to really like the show and is really proud of what the guys have accomplished since he had to leave the band. It was a nice reunion for everyone. Glad to have you back in town Vinnie.

All ages...

Jesse's big all ages show was tonight. I unfortunately missed out. I feel like a bad girlfriend for not going, but Jesse told me not to. He wasn't looking forward to this one, he knew I had a crazy long day, and it was going to cost me $10 plus the impossible downtown parking (especially with the Rockies game tonight). Listen to me trying to make excuses, I'm terrible. I was hoping to get pictures tonight, but obviously that isn't going to happen. I told Jesse to see if anyone else would take pictures. I promise to post some if I get some that is.

Bunny Trail Eggventure...

Out of all the costumed characters we've had at the museum the Bunny is always the most popular. He won the presidency of the museum over the Chicken by a landslide. The public loves him.

I think that kid might be choking the Bunny.

The Bunny stopping for a few photo ops before heading to his big story time.

True to form the Easter Bunny showed up @ the museum again this year. Here are some pictures of him visiting the basket making room. We had just over 2,000 visitors today, 2 lost kids (both found in record time), a minor blip in the power, 70 dozen hard boiled eggs for decorating, some great volunteers, lots of free food, relatively nice weather, farm animals (a pig, sheep, a mini-horse, chickens, bunnies, & goats), and more crafts than necessary (bunny ears, bunny noses, pompom chicks, baskets, grass heads, egg decorating, etc...). It was a really really long day and I am exhausted.

Little Update...

Jesse & I at Bump & Grind for Brunch.
*special note: Not long after this picture was taken Jesse decided he was jealous of my hair being shorter than his and he got a new haircut.

We had the next round of visitors here last weekend. My cousins Melissa and Gina stayed with us. We visited, we ate good food, and we shopped till we dropped. I'm not so sure Jesse enjoyed the girlie time as much as I did, but he was a good sport about it. Sine the lovely ladies are photographers I let them do all the picture taking really and the one above is really the only one I snapped over the weekend. See Melissa's blog (the Wilder Family) for more pictures and stories. Gina still needs to email me copies of hers. On a side note it seems I unintentionally got myself another babysitting gig. Melissa's friend Amy and her husband (fellow Denverites) are in desperate need of a date night and I'm always in need of money, plus I love kids and Henry seems like a pretty good one. It looks like a sweet deal for both of us.

Jesse and the guys got their new CD's in and they couldn't be more excited. They've even sold a few advanced copies this week as well. They've got their 1st all ages show tomorrow night and had another really nice little write up on westword.com, Check it out! I'll be taking photos tomorrow and posting them for sure, so keep yours eyes out for that.

Tomorrow is the Museum's big "Easter" event. It's actually called Bunny Trail Eggventure, because apparently we can't be going around using the E word. Anyhow I will probably get a few pictures of the Big Bunny himself if I can manage. It should be another crazy event day and even more so as Miss Vivian will be out. She and her husband Mike welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Riley over the weekend. Baby and mama seem to be doing well and are at home resting. Congratulations to the new family! We miss you at work Vivian and we can't wait to come meet the new little one.

I'm really getting into this...

Rocking the scarf look.

My new headband with a big flower on it which I love.

My new cap.

My new dangly earrings that you can barely see in this picture.

It's been 2 days now and I'm starting to love my new hair. I haven't once felt like breaking down in tears like those annoying girls on America's Next Top Model. I've had nothing but compliments and even got one from a complete stranger today. As my friend and fellow short haired girl said having short hair can make you feel like a boy with boobs... girlie it up as much as you can and remember you're rocking the short hair for all the girls out their that secretly want to, but don't have the guts. Well that was me not long ago, so this is for you ladies.

Picture time...

In preparation for their CD release party the guys are getting their photos done, putting together press packs, and preparing for a big write up in the Onion. Jesse's pretty excited, because the final pressing of their cd's is slated to arrive here this weekend. Here are a few of their photos from a recent shoot. Enjoy!
