Poster of the week again...

Jesse's poster design for Ideal Father's upcoming BBQ show.

As a chronic procrastinator Jesse always seems to start poster designs for the band, but almost never seems to get around to finishing them. Thankfully this time he followed through and finished this poster for the upcoming July 3rd show. This is the 2nd poster I remember him finishing and the 2nd poster he's designed that has won BEST Poster of the Week from the Westword. Check out the link to hear what the critics had to say about the design.

*An update... Here's a link to another online article promoting the show.

Samantha...

I just had to snap a picture of Sam in her new cowboy boots and sun hat before she left.

It really does make you feel old to see your little cousin all grown up. She's no longer the chubby faced little toddler that I would have to cuddle with to get to fall asleep when I babysat her. She's a grown woman.  It was great getting to see her since it seems like it's been ages since the last time I did. I hope she had a wonderful trip. I know I enjoyed our visit.

More munnies...

Jesse and I still haven't finished our Munny Dolls that we started when Cody was here in March. We've been trying to find time to work on them, so we figured what better motivation then buying one for Samantha too. We went online to buy her one and discovered that the bigger size was on sale and it ended up being only a few bucks more for a doll more than double the size that came with more accessories. Sam seemed to like the doll and she even managed to finish hers before she left. Jesse and I still haven't finished our dolls. I guess we're being perfectionists or maybe we're just procrastinators. Either way here are some shots of our progress and of Sam's finished doll. Someday we will finish ours and I will post the results, that's a promise.

Hippie Drum Circle...

On Sunday nights when the weather is warm here you will find a small gathering of hippies down by the river. They bring their bongo drums and their flame juggling/dancing equipment and go to town. It's not a real event, you won't find it advertised anywhere, but it's quite the site to see. Jesse and I rode our bikes down there 2yrs ago and  haven't really made back since, but a month ago we were riding our bike on the trail past the drum circles locations and we noticed that they're audiences is growing in numbers. When we went there were maybe 35-45 people there watching. I took Sam down there over the weekend and there were a good 300+ people there. It was crazy. We ended up walking down by the water on the opposite side of the river where it was less crowded. Of course the pictures didn't come out good, but I attempted to take some videos. The sound quality isn't the best since we were by the water, but you get the picture.

Red Rocks Ampitheater...

Check out the unicyclist riding up the steep ramp to the stage. Yikes!

Red Rocks hosts a movie showing several times a month during the summer. I've always wanted to go to Film on the Rocks and I had hoped Samantha and I would get to go, but unfortunately there were no films being shown during her visit. Instead we drove down to Morrison on the last day of her trip and walked around admiring the beauty.

Ren Fest...

On Saturday we talked Jesse into taking us to the Renaissance Festival. My friend Amanda, a fan of Ren Fest, came along too. Once again the weather was quite toasty while we were out, but by the end of our 3hr trip it began to pour and we were all soaked for the car ride home. Here are some pictures highlighting our trip...

These two were playing tunes from Disney Movies. We heard songs form Marry Poppins, The Little Mermaid, and Sleeping Beauty while we were shopping near their stage.

Lunch break. Jesse, Sam, & Amanda.

Watching the parade. The couple on the elephant were just married in the outdoor wedding chapel on the festival grounds. I told Jesse we should think about doing that. He said No Way!

The Queen, King, Prince, & Princess of the Festival in their carriage.

Sam made a new friend. Note: Her cute top is one she scored at the thrift stores on Thursday.

Knowing how much Sam loves elephants we couldn't leave the Festival with out catching a ride on one. He was a beautiful majestic elephant and  he gave us a slow bumpy ride around the grounds.

Sam decided to get her palm read before we left.

The gates to the festival grounds.

As we headed into the festival I told Sam that I would be taking lots of pictures for her mom since she wasn't. Unfortunately I brought the camera, but forgot to load a memory card. Just my luck! Thankfully they had disposable cameras for sale right as we entered. They were a little pricey, but I was not about to miss taking pictures of our experience. My friend Amanda bought some fancy tea, Samantha bought some funky little apothecary jars, and Jesse & I purchased a hand made leather photo album. We ate some good food, watched people be hypnotized, saw a parade, listened to music, watched a glass blowing demo, and took in the general scenery before getting soaked in the storm that blew in.

Feeding the Giraffes...

Since we were in the area we decided to head to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (my new favorite place) to feed the giraffes. Thankfully while we were there the weather cooled down and it even began to sprinkle a little.
