New job...

Well as most of you know I got a new full time job. I'll be a full time nanny starting tomorrow. I will really miss my part time nanny work, but I can still occasionally babysit for them so I won't be loosing contact completely. This new job is really great for me though. They have it set up to take taxes out automatically and I get direct deposit 2xs a month. The parents are separated which means that 1 week a month the child goes to stay with his dad and I get the week off. This could change after October when they have their next custody hearing, but we think it will stay like this until the child goes to full time Kindergarten next year. Having a week off every month is fine by me. I can have time to plan wedding stuff, make a trip home, get stuff done around our house, or just relax. For now the child is in half day preschool 3days a week. While he's in school I will be doing some light house work and shopping for the mom and when he's out of school we will be checking out all the local activities for preschoolers (museums, library, park, zoo, etc...). It should be fun. This job pays great and the hours are early (5:30am-2:00pm), but that means I will have my afternoons free. Another big perk of this job is the car. Yes, she bought a car for me to use while working. This means I keep the car at my place and drive it to work everyday. A HUGE help to us since we only have 1 car and now both of us work far from where we live. I was told she would be getting a used car, but knowing her I knew it would be something nice. Even though I knew it would be nice I was really blown out of the water to see just how nice it was. Here is my new work car...

 LEXUS  IS250
2007 Fully Loaded w/ just under 30,000 miles

It's really pretty and I'm slightly terrified to drive it. It's basically a way nicer version of our car. It's even got that *car of the future keyless thing going on.
You just push the button to start and stop it.

In preparation for this job I bought myself what I'm calling my nanny bag. It's sort of like a glorified purse/diaper bag. It's completely water/spill proof. It's funky and stylish. It's also packed with everything I will need a 1st aid kit, hand wipes & sanitizer, travel kleenex, sunblock, toy cars, snacks, etc... I love it.

Now Jesse and I just need to figure out how to secure the car seat in the back of this Lexus and I'll be ready for 1st day tomorrow. This should be comical.

A lot less hair...

I know it doesn't seem possible from the final result, but I honestly lost a ton of hair today. Here are some pictures to prove it.

After the massage and wash, Before the cut.

Tight on the sides, long on top. I might have to try this look next.

A lot less hair if I do say so myself.

This massive hairball is just some of what came off my head today and I still have a good carpet of hair up there. I told you it was thick. If my hair was longer I would have had them keep the clippings to make you a wig mom. The guy who cut my hair kept saying how great my hair was. He loved it.

It really doesn't feel as dramatic as I thought it would and I didn't end up going as short as I thought I would either, but as I explain in the blog... maybe this is just the beginning. Luckily so far I have yet to be mistake as a guy, but Hey it's only 3:30pm and my hair cut was finished @ 11am. A female friend of ours who also has short hair gets mistake for a guy all the time and it drives her nuts. Like I said so far I haven't been, but now that's it's shorter I wonder. I have noticed that more women give me compliments on my long hair then men do, but that could just be because women are more into giving compliments than men are. No matter what everyone else thinks I like it and so does Jesse and well he's stuck looking at my ugly mug every day, so he better like it. I had planned to get a manicure and a pedicure today too, but that didn't work out. I might try to go sometime in the next few days though. I suddenly have nice long nails (this never happens to me) and I want to have some girliness to me while my hair is so short. We took inspiration from this photo of Mena Suvari for my cut.

Let's talk hair...

Aqua Globe...

If you've never heard or this amazing little inventions you really are missing out, if you have house plants that is. It's so dry here that our poor peace lily is in constant need of water. We spray it down daily, often twice a day, and water it when the soil begins to dry out, which lately has been every other day or more. We even take the plant in the bathroom with us when we shower, so it can enjoy a little humidity. No matter what we do this poor plant doesn't stay very perky for long. I didn't want to come home to a dead house plant after our little weekend get away, so Jesse suggested we try out the Aqua Globe (as seen on tv). I picked up a two pack for $9.99 at the Ace Hardware by our house and figured why not. When we got home our Aqua Globe was empty, but our plant was very perky and it's soil was still damp. Woo Hoo! Aqua Globe saves the day! Seriously 2 thumbs up from us. If we plan on being gone for more than 5 days we will break out the 2nd globe, but for now we know our plant is in good hands with Aqua Globe.

Iowa Cubs...

For those of you who don't know Iowa has a minor league baseball team called the Iowa Cubs. Going to a game every year is sort of a summer tradition. My friend Kasi knew Jesse and I were coming back, so they invited us to go. Jesse was busy with brother time, so I enlisted my cousin Logan as a date. It was really hot out, so we spent most of our time in the fountain where Kasi's daughter splashed around and Logan and I wet our hair down. We had great seats and when we left the Cubbies were winning. I really enjoyed myself. Thanks Kasi, Bo, and Teagan for inviting us.

Teagan just loved Logan. She insisted on setting in his lap and caressing his face while babbling to him. It was soooo cute.
Contrary to the seriousness on Logan's face he did enjoy himself.
